Dog Board and Train Richmond VA - Professional Training Camp Services

Expert Board and Train Services in Richmond VA

Your dog can achieve reliable off-leash obedience in as little as two weeks through intensive professional training. Off Leash K9 Training (Richmond) offers board and train programs designed to transform your dog’s behavior through daily structured sessions, real-world practice, and comprehensive owner education.

Our 14-day Training Camp delivers advanced off-leash obedience and behavior modification for dogs across Richmond, Glen Allen, Short Pump, Chesterfield, Midlothian, and surrounding areas. Whether you’re dealing with a dog that pulls on leash, ignores recalls, or struggles with anxiety around other dogs, our board and train programs provide the intensive focus your dog needs.

Why Board and Train is Great for Your Dog

Sending your dog to a professional training camp creates results that weekly classes simply cannot match. When your dog lives with skilled trainers for one to three weeks, they receive the consistency, repetition, and structured environment needed to develop lasting obedience skills.

Advanced Off-Leash Obedience

Your dog learns to respond reliably to commands without a leash, even around distractions—a transformation that typically takes 1-3 weeks of intensive work.

Behavior Modification

Programs address pulling, jumping, barking, reactivity, and anxiety through structured daily training and controlled socialization.

Professional E-Collar Training

Every program includes an e-collar and expert conditioning so your dog responds to low-level communication signals at any distance.

100% Guaranteed Results

Our 2-week board and train programs come with a guarantee because we’re confident in our training methods.

Comprehensive Owner Education

Every program includes a dedicated session where you learn to maintain your dog’s new skills at home.

Dog owners in Richmond and Central Virginia often struggle to find time for consistent daily training. Board and train solves this by compressing weeks of practice into an intensive program where professional trainers handle the repetitions while you continue with daily life.

Our Board and Train Programs

Residential Dog Board and Train

Our standard board and train options work for most dogs who need obedience training and general behavior improvement. These programs focus on building off-leash reliability, impulse control, and polite manners in real-world environments.

2 Week Board & Train remains our most popular choice, offering comprehensive training through either the Community K9 or Urban K9 track. For dog owners with tighter timelines, the 1 Week “Freedom” Board & Train provides a shorter intensive option that builds strong recall and foundational off-leash control.

ExpeditePro™ offers expedited scheduling with our Head Trainer for owners who need help quickly. This premium service includes an OLK9 e-collar, treat pouch, place cot, and slip lead—everything you need to maintain training consistency at home.

Behavioral Board and Train

Dogs with significant reactivity or anxiety require a different approach. Our 3 Week Behavioral Board & Train is an on-leash only program specifically designed for dogs who struggle with high reactivity, fear, or anxiety-based behaviors.

This specialized training includes two private sessions: an introductory evaluation before training begins and a follow-up session to transfer skills to you as the owner. The extended duration allows trainers to work carefully on emotional stabilization and controlled behavior around triggers.

Important: Major aggression fixes cannot be completely guaranteed, but training can give control and help manage these behavioral issues effectively.

Our Top Board and Train Programs

Our Board and Train Process

Step 1: Free Consultation

Every successful training program starts with understanding your dog’s specific needs. During your free consultation, we assess your dog’s behavior, discuss your goals, and recommend the program that best fits your situation. Whether your focus is off-leash obedience, anxiety, reactivity around other dogs, or general manners, this initial conversation ensures we match you with the right training path.

Step 2: Training Camp Intake

When your dog arrives for their board and train program, intensive daily training begins immediately. Your dog joins a structured environment with clear rules, multiple training sessions each day, and controlled exposure to real-world situations. Professional trainers work on obedience commands, leash skills, and behavior modification based on your dog’s specific challenges.

Step 3: Advanced Training

Throughout the program, your dog progresses through increasingly challenging scenarios. E-collar conditioning teaches your dog to respond to low-level signals as communication cues. Off-leash work builds reliability around distractions. Behavior modification addresses jumping, barking, pulling, and other issues that interfere with daily life. For Community K9 clients, training takes place in mid-level distraction environments typical of suburban Richmond areas like Midlothian and Bon Air. Urban K9 clients experience high-level distraction training suitable for life in busier neighborhoods and commercial areas.

Step 4: Owner Education Session

Your dog’s success depends on what happens after training camp ends. Every board and train program includes a comprehensive owner session—1.5 to 2 hours depending on the program—where we demonstrate every command and coach you on handling your dog confidently. You’ll learn exactly how to use the e-collar, maintain structure at home, and continue building on your dog’s new skills. For Community K9 and Urban K9 graduates, free refresher training for life means you always have professional support available.
