Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer dog training in Lakeside for all breeds and ages?
Yes. Off Leash K9 Training of Richmond works with dogs of different breeds, ages, and sizes, subject to each program’s requirements. The Puppy Consultation is designed for dogs under five months. Other available options include private obedience lessons, dedicated in-home packages, Board & Train programs, and specialized behavior training.
How long does dog training take to see results?
The timeline depends on the selected program, your dog’s current behavior, and continued practice at home. Private lesson packages include four or eight sessions, Basic Marker Mastery™ runs for four weeks, and Board & Train options last one, two, or three weeks. The Virtual Training Lesson lasts one hour, while the Online Puppy Training Course includes approximately three hours of self-paced content.
What makes your training different from other Lakeside trainers?
Off Leash K9 Training of Richmond offers multiple training formats with goals and inclusions that depend on the selected package. Community K9 develops seven guaranteed commands, off-leash heel, and full off-leash recall around mid-level distractions. Urban K9 includes six guaranteed commands, on-leash heel, and full off-leash recall around high-level distractions. Other programs focus on foundational obedience, reward-based training, or on-leash behavioral support.
Can you help with aggressive or reactive dogs?
Yes. The Basic & Advanced Aggression/Anxiety program includes eight private lessons for dogs with aggression or reactivity around other dogs. The 3-Week Behavioral Board & Train provides on-leash training for dogs with high reactivity toward people or other dogs, as well as significant anxiety. Complete fixes for major aggression cannot be guaranteed, but training can provide greater control and help owners manage these concerns.
